Within the framework of the RE-ACT Schools Project – “Transformation of Schoolyards to Combat Climate Change Effects and Promote Healthy and Active Environments”, Mariona Ferrandiz presented an inspiring talk on Nature-Based Solutions for Cooler and Healthier Cities.
📅 The presentation was delivered on 20 November 2025 in Mataró, during the thematic workshop sessions of the 2nd Interregional Thematic Workshop.
💡 Drawing on scientific evidence and applied experience from Replantegem and CREAF, Mariona showcased how nature-based solutions can reduce the urban heat island effect while enhancing biodiversity, air quality, climate resilience and urban comfort. Concrete examples of school renaturalisation and bioclimatic shelters were shared.
